Shiitake farm and tours
Shiitake mushrooms travelled to us from Canada in the early 1990s – today they grow right here in Kurzeme.
How it started
Shiitake is a mushroom with a creamy, nutty flavour, and very few people grow it in Latvia. We grow ours in Kurzeme, Latvia, on grey alder and oak logs, just as it has been grown in East Asia for centuries.
On the tour we show you the whole journey – from log to table – and let you taste it.

Shiitake for your everyday menu
Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is an edible mushroom much loved in East Asia, with a pronounced umami flavour. It contains protein, fibre, B vitamins and a range of minerals.
Shiitake is versatile in the kitchen: soups, sauces, salads, omelettes and much more. Dried mushrooms and shiitake powder let you enjoy its flavour all year round.
It is a good choice for a varied and balanced diet.
